Carlos Barrera, CPA, CFE
Corporate Taxation, Governmental Audits.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Carlos received his CPA certification in 1979. In recognition of his leadership qualities and community involvement, Governor Rick Perry named Carlos chairman of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy on May 23, 2011. The board regulates public accountants and administers the certified public accountant (CPA) exam in Texas.  In addition, Carlos is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs, Governmental Finance Officers Association, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a board member of the Valley Zoological Society and Endowment Fund, past board member of the Brownsville and South Texas Independent School districts, and past president of the Brownsville Economic Development Corporation, Brownsville Rotary Club, and United Way of Southern Cameron County.

Ygnacio D. Garza, CPA

A former mayor of Brownsville (1987-1991), Nacho joined Long Chilton in 1975 and received his CPA certification in 1977. A graduate of St. Edward’s University in Austin, Nacho is a frequent speaker on the local economy and is active in various professional and civic organizations. In 1994, he was appointed by President Bill Clinton to be a member of the Border Environmental Cooperation Commission, a Binational Commission created by the environmental side accords of NAFTA. He has previously served as Chairman of the Texas Parks and Wildlife, an appointment made by Governor Ann Richards.

Susana L. Reynoso, CPA
Tax, with Specialization in Estate Planning, Income Taxation of Non-Resident Aliens.
Susana is a graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She joined Long Chilton in 1977 and received her CPA certification in 1979. Susana is serving as the Partner in Charge of the Brownsville office. Professionally, she is Treasurer of the Brownsville Children’s Museum and a member of the Brownsville Local Development Board. She is the past chairman of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce and North Brownsville Rotary Club, and a former board member of the Texas Society of CPA’s and AICPA International Tax Committee.

Quentin N. Anderson, CPA, PFS
Auditing, Health Care, School Districts and other Governmental Entities, Tax and Financial Planning.
A 1983 magna cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University, Quentin joined the firm in 1987 after three years with a national CPA firm. He presently serves as the partner in charge of the Harlingen office. He is a past member of the Presidential Advisory Cabinet of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and was the 1993-94 President of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the TSCPA. In addition, he is a a Wealth Advisor with First Allied Securities, Inc. He currently serves on the Board of Regents for Concordia University Texas. Within the community, Quentin is Treasurer of the Harlingen Boys and Girls Club and a past chairman of St. Paul Lutheran School’s Board of Education. He is also past president of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Harlingen, a graduate of Leadership Harlingen, and past president of the North Harlingen Rotary Club.

Brenda Dea Krafka, CPA
A 1984 magna cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University, Brenda joined Long Chilton in 1986 and received her CPA certificate in 1988. She previously served as tax manager for the Harlingen office and is a member of the firm’s CPE committee. Her areas of expertise include income tax, estate and gift tax and IRS representation. Brenda’s community service activities are extensive and include current and past leadership roles for the Zonta Club of Harlingen, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs, Main Educational Trust, and Briggs-Coleman 4-H Club. Brenda is also a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs and St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Harlingen.

Ruben Moreno, CPA

A graduate of the University of Texas-Pan American, Ruben joined Long Chilton in 1973 and received his CPA certification in 1979. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Mission Economic Development Authority, and board member of the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce. He is active in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in which he serves on the Finance Committee.

Rance G. “Randy” Sweeten, CPA, CFE, CVA, CFF
Income Tax, Estates and Gift Taxes, Employee Benefits, Maquiladora Consulting, Mergers and Acquisitions.
Randy is a 1972 graduate of the University of Houston. He currently serves on the board of the Valley Land Fund and the RGV Cancer Classic and is a frequent speaker on accounting and income tax issues for civic groups. In addition, he was recently voted as “Favorite Accountant” in the McAllen Monitor’s 2003 Reader’s Choice Awards. In 1986, Randy was selected as Outstanding Chapter President by the Texas Society of CPAs for his leadership in the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of Texas Society of CPAs. He has been chairman and a member on many state and Rio Grande Valley TSCPA chapter committees, including the TSCPA Executive Committee. He has also coordinated the CPA legislative efforts for the Valley chapter for many years. For the past 11 years, Randy has served on the board of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation and is a past Chairman. He is also a frequent speaker on accounting and income tax for civic groups. He was appointed by Governor Bush to serve on the Board of Governors of the Texas Department of Economic Development.

Jeannette Pierro Smith, CPA

A 1980 graduate of The University of Houston, Jeannette joined Long Chilton in 2002. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of CPA’s and is a Past President of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s. She is member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the Texas society of CPA’s and the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the TSCPA. Within the community, Jeannette is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she has served on the Church Council and on the Finance Committee. She is an adult leader of the New Horizons 4-H Archery Club and has served on numerous local booster clubs and civic organizations. Jeannette is fluent in both the English and Spanish languages.
David Segovia, CPA
Knowledgeable in various aspects of taxation involving Corporations, Partnerships, Individuals, Non-Resident Aliens and Estates and Trusts. David is a graduate of UT Pan American in Edinburg and a graduate of Leadership Pharr, Class XIX. He also serves as an advisory member to the Pharr Literacy Project, a non-profit organization. David is involved in the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of CPA’s and has served as the organization’s treasurer since June of 2008. His term expires in May 2010.

Charles Fankhauser, CPA
A 1979 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Pan American University, Charles joined Long Chilton, LLP upon graduation and received his CPA certificate in 1980. He has previously served as manager in both the McAllen and Brownsville offices. Charles has been directly involved in planning, performing and supervising many of the Firm’s audits in various industries, with a special concentration in audits of governmental entities throughout the four county area of the Rio Grande Valley. In addition to providing audit services, Charles is also involved in providing consulting and tax services to numerous clients in the region. Charles has also been instrumental in providing training, presentations, and staff development for Long Chilton, LLP staff, as well as for Firm clients and other business professionals.
